Wood finishing
We recommend that
Oil is used on Oak and Iroko. A thin coat should be applied prior to leaving the
workshop.
A further coat should be
applied after fitting.
A silver look to exterior joinery can be obtained by allowing the oil to
fade. This process takes about a year or two depending on the amount of sun
and weather exposure. For the best results lightly scrub the surface
with a wire brush to limit the rain staining
Both Oak and Iroko
contain enough natural tannins to keep the wood protected.
Iroko can be stained light oak using the Sadolins 3 coat system. You
will then achieve the look of Oak at lower prices. The windows however
will not turn silver with age.
